yo yo!updating the long forgotten blog now..*blow dust off my blog* hee
had such a wonderful time with God today :):) made me realise again how rich His words are... read thru and pondered about Phil 1:27-30.. just these 3 verses.says so much about how a christian should be. (btw im using 'Basics for beginners' as material..all about Philippians) .. so im going to share with you what i've learnt
"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel, without being frightened in any way by those who oppse you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved-- and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have." Phil 1:27-30
Paul was trying to say that one ought to live up to what he is called to be.. a faithful citizen in the kingdom of God..as one who has already given the privilege to be called the sons of God.
And how to live worthy of the gospel is to live consistently in unity, steadfastness in defence of the gospel that cheerfully, meekly and without fear withstand all opposition and boldly promotes the gospel...Such is a life lived out of gratitude and frank recognition that this is what the gospel has saved us for.Such conduct is a SIGN that proves one as a true person belonging to God..n to the world,God's impending judgement.
Furthermore when one suffers because of the gospel, this call to suffer on behalf of the gospel is GRANTED by God.. it's a PRIVILEGE to suffer! be it physical persecution or times when we struggle internally with our own sinful desires..it's all precious gift from God..!
"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."Mark 8:34 reminds me again how as Christians, we ought to be consistent in our daily lives. Be it the way we talk, the way we do things, treat others, conduct in everything, the gospel, the cross should penetrate every aspects of our lives.. Deny himself and take up his cross daily simply say that a Christian ought to come to an end of their personal desires, no matter how costly the death, in order to follow Jesus....
Following Jesus sounds terrible and demanding right... but think again, so many people have decided to give their lives to Jesus, many have died in the course of telling others about Him. What's so great about him and his story that the world should hear and come to Him? Yes He's awesome and He's worth the life we have, it's worth everything.. because firstly,Jesus is the one who gave us everything we have...we owe it all to him.
The old rugged cross represents the meekness and obedience of the King of Kings towards the Father and His love for mankind. How on earth can anyone be arrogrant when standing beside the cross?
"But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith." (~Paul)
